About Letterle

Two players compete in the Italian word game Letterle. People have been playing it since the 16th century, and it is still quite popular today.

The object of the game is to build words out of tiles on a grid that is the size of a typical letter. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins. Although there are numerous rules and variants for the game, they all center on creating words out of tiles, and you'll see that this idea is applied to almost every rule below.

The 26 English letters can be combined in an infinite number of ways, so you can play for as long as you like without repeating any words (although you might get the same word if you keep playing again and again). However, only six-letter tiles are available in each category. This keeps things exciting for you but limits how much you can concentrate on a single field of knowledge.

The first step is to read a list of words that have numbers that are somewhat dissimilar from one another. The first participant makes a list of as many words as they can that begin with the first letter of the list. The second participant reads each word and looks for a match on their list. The list is usually read out again after everyone has responded, and fresh words are kept coming to mind until no one can think of any more, at which time just the players' previous replies are left on the board. Once you've used all the letters in your response, you must discard your letter card and pick another one from the same stack. Good fortune!

How to play

Identify the secret word on each try.

- In each try, a four-letter term that is legal must be utilized.

- The color of the letters changes after each attempt; the green letter is the correct one and the grey one is incorrect.

In order to spur interest and curiosity about trying to figure out the letter to which you have been challenged, the game allows you to post the results on social media while displaying the series of efforts with colors but withholding the letter.
